The Goal

My central goal as a designer is to create interiors that tell the stories of my remarkable clients, spaces that say who they are, where they've been and what they most love.

Getting there is serious work but it's also a lot of fun. My years as a professional writer and editor taught me to ask clients the right questions, and to spot the connective threads within their answers.

This approach results in deeply personal spaces that are emotionally resonant and truly distinctive. Clients have even reported not wanting to go on vacation, because nothing feels as restorative and luxurious as their own home.

The Work

Art forward and elegant, unexpected and built to last.

My work is both art forward and elegant, unexpected and built to last. I'm an expert at sourcing vintage and antiques, and known for mixing them in ways that don't feel fussy or old-fashioned.

When I incorporate new furnishings, I hew toward handmade, heritage-quality items from small makers, pieces my clients can cherish for a lifetime.

Two Worlds

I grew up on a ranch in Montana, in a log A-frame my parents built, eating food they grew, wearing clothes they made. I was always dirty (definitely smelly) and didn't have a speck of manners.

But every so often, I'd fly to Memphis to visit my glamorous grandmother who I was named after. Granny Hallie had a button near her bed that she pushed when it was time for the cook to bring up her breakfast tray, a flawless affair that always included a single bloom in a petite porcelain vase.

If design is a language, learning to skillfully traverse those two worlds made me fluent. Hallie Goodman

I carry the richness of these influences into everything I do, and credit them for helping me create artful, sophisticated spaces that are grounded in comfort.
